Sunday 30th October saw the top U16 players in Leicestershire gather at Babington Community College in order to slug it out for the honour of calling themselves ‘county champion’ for the next year! It was a day of high drama and emotion as for many participants this is the most difficult tournament of the season because there is always an additional challenge when playing against partners and friends.
The Singles events this year were won by Sameer Chenia and Jess Allen with runners up Harry Clare and Eve Durrance – particular congratulations go to Eve who was playing 2 years out of her own age group. The plate events were won by Teiren Mistry and Jess Rodgers.
In the Doubles events, the Boys winners were Sameer Chenia and Joe Goodenough with the Girls event being won by Jess Allen and Tamsin Betts. Runners up were Harry Clare and Rowan Clark and Izzy Pike and Jess Rodgers.
Finally the Mixed Doubles which boasted a very healthy entry of 10 pairs. In a closely fought competition, the winners were Jess Allen and Rowan Clark with runners up Tamsin Betts and Tom Paterson-Watts.
Congratulations to all the winners and runners up and well done to all the participants. Special congratulations go to Jess Allen with a clean sweep of gold in all 3 events!
